Zuni Pottery

PE58 Zuni vintage Cellicion bowl with scalloped lip, flower motif. 4 3/4" x 10"

$320.00

Native American Zuni bowl by Deldrick and Lorenda Cellicion, with scalloped lip and flower motif painted around the exterior. Created in 1997. Acquired in 2000 from IPCC in Albuquerque, NM.

Deldrick's work is included in "Southwestern PotteryL: Anasazi to Zuni" by Hayes and Blom; and in Dr. Gregory Schaaf's "Southern Pueblo Pottery: 2000 Artist Biographies".

The Cellicions, Deldrick and Lorenda, collaborate to produce authentic Zuni Pueblo pottery by traditional hand-coiled means. This bowl differs from much of their pottery in that it does not include 3-dimensional features common to their lizard pattern. On the other hand, open bowls made by Zuni potters are not rare. This one differs again in that its motifs are floral rather than animal subjects.
4 3/4" x 10" diameter. #PE58

Additional Info

Pottery made at Zuni Pueblo pottery uses clay tempered by crushed pottery shards or rock. This results in unfinished pottery that is white. It provides a nice surface for painted images.
