She had a very positive career in health and nursing, having obtained a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of New Mexico and serving for decades in the Indian Health Service, US Public Health Service, in addition to her accomplishments with her husband as a Santa Clara potter.

Native American Santa Clara jar, with buffalo-handled lid, in light brown slip with dark brown slip area presenting sgraffito buffalo design. Potters Tony and Patty Padilla signed it and titled it "Calling the last buffalo". Acquired in 2000 at Wheelwright Museum’s Case Trading Post.
