P016 Native American pottery Hopi R. S. Nampeyo (probably Rachel) pot,
Modified melon shape with flared opening and symbolic Hopi figures around. They may signify the union of Navajo Rachel with her Hopi husband, an event that reflected her inclusion in the Nampeyo lineage.
The monogram RS Nampeyo is often identified as being that of Rachel Sahmie Nampeyo.
This pot was acquired by us in 1987 at the now extinct Shiwi Trading Post on Zuni Pueblo, making it a vintage piece. 4 1/2” x 4 1/2”
