PF43 Isleta Pueblo Caroline Carpio olla with incised and beaded trim. 6" high

Native American Isleta Pueblo Vase by Caroline Carpio, snow white slip with incised pattern around the shoulder. Inlay and incisions encircle the vase in a serpentine pattern.

Caroline Lucero-Carpio was born ca. 1962 as a member of the isleta Pueblo.
She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Fine Arts in 1996. She also studied at the prestigious Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

She has been a making pottery for nearly three decades, 17 years of which she also has been making bronze sculptures. Two of her larger than life-sized bronzes stand in front of the Isleta Resort and Casino on the Pueblo grounds.

Her work finds inspiration in the traditions of her people, in the beauty of her surroundings and from Mother Earth.
